How we work
A proven method
Every engagement follows a simple process that we’ve fine-tuned over two decades and executed hundreds of times for satisfied clients.
We all know that it does no good to move quickly in the wrong direction. But how do you know which direction is the right direction? How do you solve the right problems?
We start by asking questions: Who are the people you’re serving? What do they want? What are you trying to accomplish? Why?
Then we listen. And listen some more. If you’ve already developed requirements, we work with those. If you haven’t, we come alongside you to create them. Our experienced team briefs in quickly, brings two decades of experience in digital, and helps you with the high-level decisions that have the largest impact on your project’s success.
Effective solutions aren’t created by accident. A site that stands out from the digital crowd. An elegant interface that minimizes perceived complexity. A Web platform that scales effortlessly.
Not just about making things pretty, thoughtful, careful design is focused on the end user. We work to tell your story, streamline the user experience, and present visuals that excite or illuminate.
Our expert team takes the broader vision and embodies it in site maps, wireframes, graphic layouts, working prototypes and detailed functional specs.
Moving from low fidelity to high fidelity, we get to something that can be built and keep all stakeholders aligned throughout.
Building things is hard. It can’t be treated as an afterthought, which is why our in-house engineering team always works closely with our in-house design team.
We have in-depth, hard-won experience with the core technologies used to build the Web. But we’re also pragmatic. We understand what it means to build to budget, and we follow agile processes with iteratively delivered partial work product to give you visibility and control throughout.
And we understand that clients come to us to solve problems, not to showcase our coding prowess.
Build, test, rollout, validate. Rinse and repeat. Continuous integration. Automated unit testing.
What does it all mean? Happy end users and happy project stakeholders.
Through it all, our seasoned project managers keep everything on track for you with their deep expertise and friendly accessibility.
A word about User Experience
User experience is a person’s interaction, perception, and emotional response to a product or service. A good user experience allows someone to accomplish a goal easily, efficiently, and with a positive overall reaction to the product. It seeks to simplify and clarify the product or service. It also takes into account the user’s context and expectations.
With each engagement, we’re always asking what the objectives are, who the user is, and what the context is.
Our staff have led the design for some of the top visited websites in the U.S., and bring that experience to each engagement. But we also bring our curiosity, our drive to learn your business, and our desire to serve you well.
Our tools are wireframing, rapid prototyping, usability labs, ethnographic research—and inquisitive and analytical minds.
