Custom Web Development Process

Custom Development Process

Whether you’re engaging us to create a memorable Web site presence or a complex, custom Web application, our development process follows a simple but well-traveled course. It’s designed to ensure that your objectives are met, and to help us make critical decisions early in the process. Decisions that, if made early, will support your timelines and limit your costs.

Discover

In the Discovery phase, we work with you to fill out the picture of what is being built. Although this is the shortest phase, it is an extremely critical one. We bring our experience as designers and software engineers to guide conversations, provide feedback on work you have done so far, and map business processes. But more than that, we try to bring good questions. While years and breadth of experience make it easier to assess the issues, we don't believe that we know the best solution before talking with you.

Design

The Design phase turns the concepts that have been refined during Discovery into concrete visual representations. We provide Web page mock-ups for Web site designs, and screen diagrams — what we call wireframes — for Web applications. Screens and flows are worked out, giving you a chance to provide feedback and course corrections before we dive into the full build.

Develop

The bulk of the work in most projects happens in the Development phase. This is where sketches, design documents, and smoke-and-mirror prototypes are turned into interactive Web sites and functioning Web applications. Our software architects, database experts, programmers and HTML coders are in-house to ensure a tightly coordinated team and smooth transition from the Design phase. At the end of the Development phase, we test the product to ensure that everything is functioning properly.

Deploy

During Deployment, we coordinate all aspects of launching the finished Web site. Complex, multi-tiered software can be rolled out on your servers, or we can host the completed sites on our own Internet-connected servers. Databases, app servers, Web servers, and integrations to your internal systems—everything is hooked up so that it operates smoothly.

And beyond...

Of course many Web applications and Web sites—particularly complex ones—will require maintenance as your needs change and grow. With many Web development companies, the team that develops the site is no longer available to provide ongoing support and enhancements. At Dayspring, we are committed to continuing to partner with you to support your organization’s needs beyond Web site launch or application rollout.
