Situation
PCA is the leading voice promoting positive approaches to youth sports that develop the whole person. With decades of experience, and the content to match, PCA wanted to surface all of this in a powerful web resource library for a variety of targeted audiences.
High Five and Dayspring together envisioned an extensive library with integrated search and filtering capabilities, enabling PCA to speak to each of its audiences effortlessly.
Execution
Dayspring analyzed the client’s extensive library of resources (videos, articles, links, documents) and proposed a responsive web solution with Solr and its powerful browse, filter and search features at its foundation.
The home page of the site highlights featured resources and hot topics in sports, manageable by the client’s users. Entry into the content is also provided by role (Coach, Parent, Athlete, etc.).
The core search interface continues to highlight hot topics while allowing for faceted browsing across multiple categories (Role, Topics in Sports, Principles, and Resource type) that provides counts of available resources as each consecutive filter is applied. Dead-end filters, a key problem in “AND” searches, are automatically eliminated. Keyword searching suggests auto-completions based on a full-text indexing of content.
Resources are easily shareable by email or via social network, and our Google Analytics implementation measures user engagement in both pageviews and other user interactions.
Finally, our careful implementation means the interface seamlessly scales to tablet and mobile form factors so that coaches, athletes and parents have access to the client’s award-winning content wherever they might be.
